TSF OPEN TORNADO TOURNAMENT

On Sunday March 7'th 2004, Mathew Orr and I (Rix Arcas) went out to Waterloo to represent the HTSA and participate in the very first Kitchener-Waterloo TSF (total services foosball) TORNADO tournament. With 24 players (12 teams) participating, me and Matt took the winners bracket all they way up to the semi-finals where we got put into the semi-finals of the losers bracket. Winning the losers bracket, we moved on to the Finals to double dip the guys who put us in the losers bracket 4 games straight, taking home the Gold. This was my first TORNADO tournament, and I was really pleased to win first. Thanks to Matt for driving all the way out to Waterloo to participate with me, and to Paul Trafford for inviting us out and hosting the tournament. First place Trophy can be seen at Main Billiards Lounge.
We at the HTSA would like to welcome our newest Sponsor, Philthy Mcnasty's on Upper James. You can expect to be recieving such gifts as Tshirts, Hats, and gift certificates from them. Also, expect to be seeing HTSA tournaments at Philthy Mcnasty's. To kick off our tournaments, we will be hosting our first 4 tournaments with NO ENTRY FEE. This means that you come to Philthy's, pay nothing to enter our tournament, and play on. The tournaments will be held on a new table to the hamilton foosball community called the Tornado table. Many of you might have certain judgements about this table... Gilbert and I (Rix) hated this table when we first tried it, but give it a chance and I promise you, it will grow on you. The control and skill level that this table brings is AMAZING. Also with these tournaments comes a brand new style of tournament play and ranking system which was created by yours truly. The tables should be there by the end of the week, so come by and join us and play some Tornado.
I just recieved the news that our good friends Mario Ariganello and Sean Lee from Toronto WON rookie doubles in the Los Vegas Tornado Championships. This is HUGE considering that they were competing against 142 of the best rookie teams from all over. We're proud of you guys, bring Home the gold to southern Ontario!! haha.

Our primary place for tournaments has been the QQ Teashop. So far everything has run smoothly and everybody seems to be adapting to QQ's tables very nicely. Due to our success this far in, we were thinking about having tournaments on a weekly bases rather then bi-weekly. The thing is.. our doubles tournaments will still be every two weeks, and in between each doubles tournament, we'll have a special event. An example of these events are things like Singles tournaments, Draw your partner, Shot for shot forward shootout, Goalie wars, and other events which might be suggested. Also, these events will be a smaller fee ($5), because they aren't doubles events. Feedback would be very appreciated, maybe some suggestions as to what events you would like. Remember, this is all still in the thinking stage and may not happen.
